waste paint

final design proposal for sustainable processes + materials course

At the beginning of the course, each student selected one object that held some sort of significance to them.

I choose a paint brush.

We then researched + dissected the object - figuring out what each part was made of, where it came from, how it was assembled, the use, and the end of life journey. Taking this knowledge - we moved into how to re-design the object in a more ‘sustainable’ way.

Since the paint brush does not have that large of an environmental or social impact, I choose to focus on the material paint brushes are used for'; paint.

A new approach to how paint is created + the art that is made with it. Designing paint materials specifically out of waste. Think compost paint - things like leftover pomegranate shell, avocado pits, greens that went bad, etc. This waste paint then impacted the art that is created with it.
